There can only be one

The thing about blogging is it's addicitive. More, more. I want some more!

I was too emotional to write about it then but Roger Federer beat Rafael Nadal 7-6 4-6 7-6 2-6 6-2 in the Wimbledon 2007 final to join Bjorn Borg in the Five-Wimbledons-in-a-Row Club. Federer has been accused of not being able to hack it in five-set matches. But in glorious and convincing fashion, he showed us all he wasn't going to take shit from anyone on grass. Five sets of utter nail-biting, hair-grabbing excitement. Bliss.

In the fifth set, Federer had to face break points in two consecutive service games. He saved them, and went on to break Nadal. Grace under pressure. Calm in the face of near-defeat. It was a stunning display of resilience and genius from both players. Epic.

hi paolo! i get the feeling he will be eventually. federer even said in the post match interview: "i'm lucky i'm still winning a couple of grand slams before he starts winning them all."

it's the genius that draws me to federer, though. the ease and brilliance of his shots. the calm, collected manner in which he eviscerates his opponents. it's poetry.

I saw that game... and it was awesome. I'm a tennis fan, BTW... since I was 14 years old.

I like to watch a few games when the stars come to play in tournaments here in Canada.

I used to really like seeing Martina Hingis in action. Saw her a couple of times... Brilliant.

Been a great fan of Nadal! I really wanted him to win! Too bad.

Nadal was clearly the better man in that match. He's the more aggressive and steadier from the baseline.

Federer in my opinion, looked quite scared. He didn't go for his shots. His forehand most of the time were quarter pace.

But what impressed me the most about Federer is that he was able to find a way to win despite Nadal being the better player in that match. That's what champions do!

Aarrgh! I'm so pissed because they have slowed the grass courts drastically, it almost seemed like a slow hard court. Nadal wouldn't go further than round of 16 of Wimbledon if the grass courts are as fast as it was in 2001.

Forgive my obvious hate on Nadal! Hehe!

Congrats dear. I know you adore The Mighty Fed... so I won't say anything negative.. I promise. He totally deserved the win.

... I can't help it... I won't comment on his tennis skills. He's really frustratingly great.

Saturday Night Fever? (Sorry... fashion choice comment slipped)
